We’re Casting Calls for an excellent energetic individual who likes challenges, learning new skills and has strong customer service skills. Team oriented, motivated, dedicated and talented! Experience is preferred, but not necessarily a requirement for the right candidate. Daily tasks include basic administrative skills as well as commercial production. Candidate will be provided with on the job training in radio show and commercial production. An interest in music and radio strongly preferred.

Job Fairs

Classification #1

  • 11/19/14 at Old Community Center from 9am-12pm Three Rivers Media Staff: Danny Gordon, Operations Manager; Barbra Sewell, Sales Manager; and Thom Moore, Sale Representative participated in the Annual Wythe/Bland County Career Fair. Students from 10th-12th grade from local High Schools attended the event. Each student was presented with vendor’s names and suggested questions for them to ask. We fielded questions in a range from salary, qualifications, and education necessary to hold a job in radio. The Radio Station also did a live broadcast from 9-12 on 95.3 FM to help promote the activity.
  • 3/12/15 at Wytheville Community College Job Fair from 1:00pm – 6:00pm. Three Rivers Media Staff: Barbara Sewell, Sales Manager; and Thom Moore, Sales Representative participated/spoke with several people interested in a career in radio.
  • 4/16/15 at the Crossroads Institute in Galax, Virginia from 2:00pm-6:00pm. Three Rivers Media Staff: Barbara Sewell, Sales Manager; and Misty Jackson, Sales Representative participated in job fair hosted by the Wytheville Community College. Collected resumes for possible future positions. Also made contact with Blake Hodges and Paula Byrd from the Virginia Employment Commission (Galax Office) for possible future use.


Kids & Weather

Classification #10 (Participation in programs with educational institutions)

Every Wednesday from January 2015– May 2015 in connection with Spiller Elementary School. Each week, one student (chosen by Principal) was given the opportunity to tour the station facilities with a member of staff from Spiller Elementary School. Each student receives an in-depth tour of the station with background/history and a discussion of various positions and responsibilities at the station. The students were shown station operations and were given the chance to record the weather for Friday of every week that school is in session. Then they were shown how technology is used in radio and how commercials are edited.   Every student then received a certificate for having completed the program. This is an ongoing program that will continue during school sessions. Station Personnel Involved- Jessica Money Office Manager/ Traffic Director.


Writing Skills Competition/Community Outreach/Job Shadowing

March 17-April 15, 2015

Contact was made with the School Board of Wythe County to form a partnership to encourage proper writing skills and explore options for career choices that utilize these skills. All schools in the County of Wythe were given the opportunity to participate in a writing contest. Schools would then send top picks to the School Board. The School Board then announced one winner from each school based on their writing skills. Each winner (14 total) was given the chance to visit the radio station with their parent/guardian where they receive background information about the station, a tour, and job shadowing in the production of commercials. Next each student was allowed to record their winning writing to be aired on the radio just in time for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. No sponsor was obtained for these events; they were for educational purposes only. The station employment unit hosted students and parent/guardians from a variety of schools on several days.
