Danny G. is a Wytheville native, Danny has worked at WYVE Radio for the past 30+ years as News/Sports Director, Operations Manager and morning show host. He has won numerous state and regional awards for news and sports broadcasting, including winning the UPI Top News Man award five years running in small market radio. Danny’s mainstays are “Conversation with Danny G. morning show segment where he has interviewed governors, congressmen, astronauts, race car drivers, country music and gospel stars, local officials and students. His sports talk show is the longest running, local sports show in the state of Virginia. Outside the radio station, Danny has been involved in the United Way, Lions Club, Helping Overcome Poverty’s Existence Steering Committee, Board Of Zoning Appeals, Wythe County Joint Industrial Development Authority, Chamber of Commerce board of directors, All Nations Church of God, Jaycees, Local Emergency Planning committee, and the Housing Authority, just to name a few. Danny is married to Wytheville native Becky Smelser, has one child, Amanda who is married to Brandon Bentley. Mr. Gordon is also a member of the Wythe County Sports Hall of Fame.
Thom Moore is from Richmond, Virginia and fell in love with the mountains as a student at Virginia Tech. While at Tech, Thom performed with Stan Kingma’s “The New Virginians” as well as other university choral groups. Thom did several theatrical productions at Tech and went on to perform at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. Thom has done Theater over the years in the Mid-Atlantic region and has taught Theater at Hollins University where he appeared in several productions including “Into the Woods.” He moved to Wytheville in 2002 with a regional sales job and did several shows at The Wohlfhart House Dinner Theater before eventually becoming a sales associate at Three Rivers Media. Thom picked up the banjo in 2007 and began writing original tunes on the banjo. His album “That Evening Sun” came out in 2012 and Thom performs with his group That Evening Sun in venues around the region. Thom and wife France state that their greatest accomplishment to date is their daughter Jessie, and son Zachary.
